The Pont du Gard is in the south of France, and is an aqueduct built by the Romans. There is no mortar or concrete keeping the stones together, they used the keystone to keep the arches (and therefore everything else) up. It is one of my favorite places - when I first saw it in the 1990's, you could walk on the top, but no more. Now you can hike up there, but it is blocked off. If you can, you should visit this part of France, because it is gorgeous and full of Roman ruins and other historical stuff (technical term...). Do you have a favorite area of France?
